The End of Season Tennis function will be held at the club in the function room on Friday 27th October. The section hope to get as many current and former members as possible to come along to this evening - for any details contact Peter Davies on 020 7336 6959 – 07885 248561.
This function will celebrate the first summer season of tennis played at the Heatons.
After an excellent season Mersey 1st were just pipped at the post for the promotion play off position for the chance to go into Div 3. Despite winning 8 out of 10 matches and finishing joint 2nd on equal points with Lymm, the current league method of determining placings (when points are the same) is to divide sets won by sets lost which saw us miss out over the season by just a few sets. Its hugely disappointing and despite a letter to the league to see if any other consideration could be given to us, the current situation stands and another season in Div 4B beckons next year (at the moment!).
The 2nd team after their first season back in the league for a number of years had a respectable season finishing mid table in Div 6 which proved our case for being entered a few divisions higher than the normal entry for a new team in Div 9.
We now have the fixtures for the Winter League and they are as follows :Sun 15 October QUEENSGATE (A) 1.30pm Sun 22 October LINDOW (A) 10.00am Thurs 2 November DARLEY (A) 7pm Tues 14 November LYMM (H) 7pm Thurs 23 November HANDFORTH (H) 7pm Sun 17 December WHALLEY RANGE (A) 10.00am Wed 29 November CHEADLE KINGSWAY (H) 7pm Tues 5 December HAZEL GROVE (H) 7pm Sun 7 Jan RYECROFT (H) 10.30am Sun 14 Jan KNUTSFORD (H) 10.30am A winter programme will be run by Paul Mannion and details will appear here shortly.
