Due to our league position and the fact that sets were quite possibly a deciding factor in whether we finish 2nd or not, we agreed to start the match at 6.30 rather than the usual 6.45.

Paul and Mark played first couple as Paul Mannion was away and won 6-3 6-4 and with 2nd and 3rd couples also winning 3 of the 4 sets it gave us strong position of 5-1 going into the second round.

David Sadler playing with Nick Speight got a great half against the mellor 2nds and with Jamie and John and Paul and Mark getting a further 3 sets between them it meant it was 9-3 going into the last round.

We again turned around quickly to get the matches started and with paul and Mark winning quickly and David and Nick also getting 2 more sets it meant the final score was a good 13-5 win before it started to get really dark!

We now have our final match vs Hale Barns on 3 August and the result of this together with Lymm’s final match will determine whether we finish in a play off spot or not for the opportunity to get promoted to Div 3 for next season.
