The first pair was Dave Lennie and Andy Kent, the second pair was Henry Ticehurst and Anthony Jones and the third pair was Chris Hynes and Jerry Fynn.
The weather was blustery and with a bright, low sun which caused both teams some problems with serving and high balls and a brief cold snap with hailstones towards the end of the evening.
After losing emphatically to a strong Davenport team 3-9 at home earlier in the month we went there determined to give a good account of ourselves and started the evening well, with both the first and second pairs halving the first round 1 set each.
Unfortunately, those were the only sets won and although the score line failed to truly represent the closeness of the other sets, our team went down 10 - 2 to the Davenport side that was largely unchanged from the first encounter.
Overall the evening was hugely enjoyable with both sides having a great time, both on and off the courts, at this very friendly club . A big thank you goes out to all the team that played and for the extremely warm welcome we received at Davenport.
We look forward now to the next home fixture against Mere on Thursday 14th May, a side we comfortably beat away 7-6 earlier in the month! Supporters welcome!
